Jasmonate compounds are produced by plants to signal defensive responses in their own and neighboring plants' metabolisms. They can be compared to a chemical alert message, that stimulate the plants to produce their distinctive compounds in greater amounts. These result in qualities we find useful such as increased aromatics, flavor and medicinal compounds in plants exposed to Jasmonates. They represent a natural alternative to toxic regulators. These and other growth regulators are best absorbed by the stomata as foliar mist, and are not easily bioavailable unless properly extracted.
